The Treasury is a respected and influential central economic agency, and the
Australian Government’s lead economic adviser. We predict and analyse policy issues
with a whole of economy perspective and implement policies and programs to achieve
strong and sustainable economic and fiscal outcomes for Australians. We, understand
government and stakeholder circumstances, and respond rapidly to changing events
and directions.
As a Treasury graduate, you’ll gain exposure to meaningful work in several areas of the
department and the opportunity to work on policies that shape the Australian economic
landscape and make a difference for all Australians.
Locations where there are vacancies for graduates
Our graduate program runs over 2 years You will complete 8-month rotations in 3
different work areas, with most graduates based in our Canberra office.
Graduates may also be placed in our Sydney and Melbourne offices.

14 April 2025, for commencement in February 2026.

Degree subjects required for Graduates wishing to apply
You may want to work for us if you have a degree in one of the following disciplines, including law, economics/econometrics, public policy, political science, data and statistics, mathematics, business and commerce, and finance.
Education requirements for our 2026 Graduate Development Program include:
• have completed or will complete, an Australian-recognised undergraduate qualification (bachelor degree or higher by 31 December 2025)
• hold a bachelor degree at a minimum, most recent eligible qualification must be no more than 5 years old, (for example, you have or will complete between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2025), and
• performed well over the course of your studies to ensure that you are competitive in the selection process
